Release Date: 1998
"Shining Force III Scenario 3: Hyouheki no Jashinguu" is the culminating chapter in the epic Shining Force III trilogy, released exclusively for the Sega Saturn console in 1998. Developed by Sega's Camelot Software Planning, this tactical role-playing game continues the intertwining tales of warfare and magic that has become a hallmark of the Shining series. In this third scenario, the player takes on the role of Julian, a mercenary seeking revenge against the villain who killed his father. The narrative unfolds in a richly detailed fantasy world where Julian's story intersects with the protagonists of the previous two scenarios, Synbios and Medion. Together, they face off against a sinister conspiracy that threatens the peace of their world.
The gameplay of "Shining Force III Scenario 3: Hyouheki no Jashinguu" is characterized by its strategic turn-based battles, where positioning and tactical foresight are key to overcoming foes. Players manage a diverse party of characters, each with unique abilities and potential to evolve into more powerful classes. The game significantly enhances its predecessors’ features with larger battle maps, more complex enemy AI, and a deeply engaging plot enhanced by the multiple perspectives afforded by the trilogy format. Unfortunately, due to the decline of the Sega Saturn and the localization costs, only the first scenario of Shining Force III was officially released in English, leaving much of the intricate storyline and gameplay improvements of the latter two scenarios inaccessible to a broader audience without the use of fan translations. This exclusivity has since elevated "Shining Force III Scenario 3: Hyouheki no Jashinguu" to a sought-after classic among tactical RPG enthusiasts and collectors.
