Description

"Mizubaku Daibouken," also known as "Liquid Kids" outside of Japan, is not actually available on the Sega Saturn console; it was originally released for the arcade systems by Taito in 1990 and later ported to various platforms such as the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16. The game follows the adventures of Hipopo the Platypus, who uses water bombs to battle through numerous levels to save his girlfriend and other captured friends from a fiery enemy named Fire Demon. The game is set in a colorful, whimsically animated world where each stage has its own unique environmental themes ranging from forests and lakes to dangerous volcanoes.

The gameplay in "Mizubaku Daibouken" is reminiscent of classic platformer styles seen in many games from the late 1980s and early 1990s, focusing on jumping, dodging, and using water bombs to navigate through levels and defeat enemies. One of the distinctive features of the game is the use of water physics, where players can throw bombs to create waves and solve puzzles, adding a layer of strategic depth uncommon in many platformers of its time. Enemies defeated with water splash away in a visually satisfying manner. Despite its somewhat obscure status, "Mizubaku Daibouken" is appreciated among retro gaming enthusiasts for its engaging mechanics, charming graphics, and the challenge it offers, making it a prized gem for collectors and fans of the genre.
