Description

"...Iru!" is a horror-themed adventure game released in 1998, developed by System Sacom and published by ASCII Entertainment exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 1. Set in a high school environment, the game revolves around the mysterious disappearances and unsettling occurrences within the school premises. Players take on the perspective of a protagonist who is drawn into this eerie scenario, tasked with unraveling the truth behind the supernatural activities. The gameplay is a blend of first-person exploration and puzzle-solving, with the player navigating through the dimly-lit halls and abandoned classrooms, leveraging items and clues found along the way to solve riddles and interact with the environment.

The game is notable for its atmospheric use of sound and visuals to evoke a feeling of suspense and dread, a technique not commonly seen in other titles from the PlayStation 1 era. The use of fixed first-person perspectives contributes to the immersive and claustrophobic feel of the game, heightening the tension as players explore. Despite its niche appeal, "...Iru!" managed to carve a lasting impression on its audience due to its distinct approach to the horror genre. Although not a commercial blockbuster, the game retains a cult following and is often remembered for its pioneering role in fusing traditional horror elements with interactive gameplay, setting a precedent for later horror titles on the platform.
