Description

"Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II" is a platformer game designed by Zippo Games and released by Acclaim Entertainment for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989. It is the sequel to the successful game "Wizards & Warriors" and continues the adventures of the heroic knight Kuros as he battles through the fantasy realm to defeat the evil wizard Malkil. Set across four elemental-themed levels—Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water—the game requires Kuros to defeat elemental bosses and retrieve the pieces of the legendary Ironsword to gain the power needed to confront Malkil at the summit of IceFire Mountain. Along the way, Kuros collects spells, potions, and various weapons to aid in his quest.

The gameplay in "Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II" is noted for its challenging platforming sequences and RPG elements, such as spell-casting and item accumulation that influence strength and health. Each of the game's levels includes hidden areas, puzzles, and NPCs who can aid Kuros by providing items or advice in exchange for treasures collected along the way. One of the most memorable aspects of the game was its cover art, which featured a muscular warrior posed dramatically and was famously modeled by Fabio Lanzoni. Despite mixed reviews from critics, who sometimes found the game overly difficult and the controls frustrating, "Ironsword" remains a nostalgic favorite among NES enthusiasts for its engaging quest and epic fantasy setting.
