"Eggomania" is an arcade-style video game released for the Atari 2600 console in 1982, developed and published by U.S. Games. The gameplay is inspired by the "Kaboom!" game mechanic but features unique elements that distinguish it from its predecessor. In "Eggomania," players control a small bear at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right to catch eggs dropped by a mischievous turkey perched above. The objective is to catch all the eggs in the bear's hat without missing any. Missed eggs crack when they hit the ground, and if too many eggs are missed, the game ends.
The game progresses through various levels, each increasing in difficulty as the turkey moves faster and the eggs drop at a quicker pace. Upon successfully catching all the eggs in a level, players then shift to a bonus stage where they get a chance to throw the caught eggs back at the turkey for bonus points. Featuring colorful graphics and simple but addictive gameplay, "Eggomania" was well-received for its engaging challenge and humorous concept. Despite not being as widely recognized as some of the era’s blockbuster titles, it remains a beloved example of the quirky and creative games developed for the Atari 2600.
