Description

"Discworld II: Missing Presumed...!?" also known as "Discworld II: Mortality Bytes!" in North America, is a point-and-click adventure game developed and published by Psygnosis in 1996. It is the sequel to the original Discworld game and is set in Terry Pratchett's satirical Discworld universe. The game centers around the character Rincewind, a rather incompetent and cynical wizard who starred in the original game. In this installment, Rincewind is tasked with solving a rather unusual crisis: Death, the Grim Reaper, has gone missing, leading to chaos as the people of Discworld are unable to pass on. Players guide Rincewind through various misadventures as he searches for Death to bring him back to his duties, meeting a vibrant cast of characters along the way.

The gameplay in "Discworld II" involves exploring different areas, collecting items, and solving puzzles, much like its predecessor and other games of the genre in the 90s. Its narrative, rich with Pratchett's hallmark wit and humor, is complemented by detailed cartoonish graphics and a full voice cast, featuring Monty Python's Eric Idle as the voice of Rincewind. Notably, the game saw an improvement in user interface over the first Discworld title, with a more streamlined inventory and conversation system that made it more accessible to players. Released on platforms like Sega Saturn, the game's adaptation to console included tailored controls that suited the gamepad. "Discworld II: Missing Presumed...!?" received acclaim for its storytelling, humor, and animation, making it a beloved entry in the genre and a fitting tribute to the quirky, fantastical world Terry Pratchett created.
