Description

"Corpse Killer: Graveyard Edition" is a video game released for the Sega Saturn console in 1996, developed by Digital Pictures. This game is an interactive movie with light gun shooter elements, allowing players to partake in an immersive, cinematic experience. The plot centers around an unnamed Marine (played by actor Vincent Schiavelli) who is stranded on a mysterious Caribbean island. The island is overrun by zombies controlled by an evil voodoo scientist named Dr. Hellman, portrayed by the iconic horror actor, R. Lee Ermey. Players must navigate through various environments, battling zombies and gathering allies, including a journalist named Julie, as they aim to stop Dr. Hellman's sinister plans.

"Corpse Killer: Graveyard Edition" is notable for its full-motion video (FMV) gameplay, a popular style during the mid-90s, which uses pre-recorded video clips to present the action, rather than relying solely on traditional computer graphics. This edition for the Sega Saturn included several enhancements over the original, such as improved video quality and additional game content. The game utilized the Sega Saturn's capabilities to blend interactive FMV sequences with real-time gameplay effectively, providing an engaging blend of narrative and action. Despite mixed reviews, especially concerning its gameplay mechanics and video quality, "Corpse Killer" remains a memorable example of the era’s experimental video game design, adopting live-action footage for a more movie-like gaming experience.
