Description

"Chiki Chiki Machine Mō Race 2: In Space" is a vibrant and whimsical racing game developed exclusively for the Panasonic 3DO. Released as a sequel to the original "Chiki Chiki Machine Mō Race," this iteration takes the zany racing antics out of the traditional cartoony Earth settings and launches them into the far reaches of outer space. Players can select from a cast of quirky characters, each with their own absurdly designed vehicles that range from rocket-powered carriages to alien crafts. The game is known for its colorful graphics and engaging, fast-paced gameplay, which includes unconventional tracks scattered across various planets and galaxies featuring loops, jumps, and a variety of cosmic obstacles.

The game made several improvements over its predecessor, particularly in the use of the 3DO's capabilities to enhance visual effects and performance. "Chiki Chiki Machine Mō Race 2: In Space" offered a split-screen mode for multiplayer races, a feature that was highly appreciated in the era of couch co-ops. Additionally, the game integrated unique power-ups and special items specific to the space theme, such as asteroid shields and gravity boosters, adding layers of strategy and excitement to the races. Although it didn't gain widespread popularity, partly due to the limited success of the 3DO platform itself, the game is still remembered fondly by retro gaming enthusiasts for its creative take on the racing genre and its playful, imaginative course design.
