Description

"Cheetahmen II" is an action-platform video game developed for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is a sequel to the game included in the infamous "Action 52" multi-cart, which was released by Active Enterprises in 1991. In "Cheetahmen II", players take control of the Cheetahmen characters—Apollo, Aries, and Hercules—as they navigate various levels to defeat the evil geneticist, Dr. Morbis. The game features distinct levels and boss fights for each of the Cheetahmen, with each character possessing unique abilities and weapons, enhancing the diversity in gameplay as players switch between them to advance through the game.

The game's history is particularly notable due to its rarity and the circumstances surrounding its release. "Cheetahmen II" was never officially released after Active Enterprises ceased operations, but in 1996, a warehouse find unearthed approximately 1,500 cartridges of the game, which contained unfinished code and numerous bugs. These cartridges eventually entered the collector’s market, making "Cheetahmen II" a highly sought-after curiosity among retro gaming enthusiasts. The game's notoriety and rarity have sparked a significant interest, leading to high prices in the collector's market and even prompting fan-initiated projects to fix the bugs and complete the unfinished levels, allowing players to experience the game as originally intended.
