Description

"Big Nose Freaks Out" is a platform game released for the Nintendo NES console in 1992, developed by Codemasters and published by Camerica as part of their Aladdin Deck Enhancer series. The game serves as a sequel to "Big Nose the Caveman" and continues the adventures of the titular character, Big Nose, who is on a quest to recover his stolen savings from a pesky pterodactyl. Set in a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and other fantastical creatures, players navigate Big Nose through various levels, each offering unique challenges and environments. The gameplay involves typical platforming elements such as jumping, dodging, and using a club to battle foes, while also incorporating special items like power-ups and collectible bones which can be used as currency.

"Big Nose Freaks Out" features vibrant graphics and whimsical character designs that were notable for the NES platform at the time. The game's mechanics deviate slightly from traditional platformers by including a unicycle which the protagonist rides, adding a unique twist to the navigation and physics of movements. Despite not being as widely recognized or commercially successful as mainstream NES titles, the game has garnered a niche following, attributed to its engaging gameplay and the novelty of its prehistoric comedic theme. The Aladdin Deck Enhancer technology used in its cartridge was intended to bolster the game’s performance and graphics, an innovation at the time aimed at extending the NES’s lifespan in the face of emerging 16-bit consoles.
